The 2014 Ford F-150 wants to be the one-truck shop for pickup buyers and their specific needs. To meet that lofty goal, the lineup includes one of the most extensive portfolios available for an automotive model. The F-150 is offered in three body styles (regular, SuperCab and SuperCrew), three different beds sizes and nine trim levels. Four engines are available: a 3.7-liter V-6, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6, a 5.0-liter V-8 and a 6.2-liter V-8. As the Columbia Ford Dealers will point out, there's something for everyone in an F-150 pickup.
XL Trim Level
The XL is the base trim for the Ford F-150. Targeted as a commercial vehicle to useon construction sites (among other places), the F-150 XL stays down to earth with 17-in. steel wheels, vinyl upholstery (for the front row on regular cabs and both rows on extended and crew cabs), air-conditioning, AM/FM radio and a tilt-only steering wheel. SuperCrew XL models get additional features like power front windows, a remote keyless entry system and power rearview mirrors.
STX Trim Level
The STX trim builds on the F-150 XL. On the exterior, the STX gets additional body-colored trim and replaces the XL's steel wheels with aluminum alloys with painted accents. Inside, new features include cruise control, a CD player and an auxiliary audio jack. SuperCab models come with rear power windows.
XLT Trim Level
The Ford F-150 XLT includes more standard equipment, especially in electronics, like automatic headlamps and a keyless entry keypad. The most intriguing is Sync with MyFord. Part of the automaker's MyFord Touch infotainment system, Sync with MyFord pairs with a smartphone via Bluetooth phone connectivity to provide features such as 911 Assist, audible text messaging, voice control for music and more.
FX2 and FX4
The FX2 and FX4 trims are designed for F-150 owners who regularly engage in outdoor activities. The trims add 18-in. alloy wheels, a trailer tow package and a household power outlet as standard. Four-wheel-drive FX models (most F-150s are front-wheel drive) get skid plates, hill descent control and an electronic locking rear differential. Passengers will find the ride quite comfortable thanks to a slew of standard features, such as dual-zone automatic climate control, bucket seats (SuperCab, SuperCrew), a power-adjustable driver seat and satellite radio.
The Lariat Trim
The Ford F-150 Lariat, like those found at Columbia Ford Dealerships, begins the higher-end trims for the lineup. The Lariat casts off its off-road trappings for more luxurious appointments like 10-way adjustable powered leather seats for the front row, power-adjustable pedals and a power-sliding rear window. Electronics include the MyFord Touch infotainment system, whose numerous features are accessed via an 8-in. touchscreen.
The King Ranch Trim
The King Ranch trim builds on the Lariat's luxury theme and draws inspiration from the American West. The F-150 King Ranch adds chrome exterior trim and a wood-and-leather-trimmed steering wheel. Unique badging is present throughout the truck. Other notable appointments include King Ranch Chaparral leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated rear-row seats (when applicable), a rearview camera system and premium audio from Sony.
