2014 Ford F-150 Augusta GA
Well, kids, looks like the big news for the 2014 Ford F-150 has been its all-new Tremor model. This version of America's favorite pickup truck comes standard with a tremendously potent 365-horsepower, 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, offering owners V-8 performance with V-6 fuel economy. The difference with this F-150 is its short wheelbase/regular-cab combo. The standard 2WD Tremor includes a launch-optimized 4.10 rear axle with electronic locking differential, which also works with Ford's available 4WD setup. The U.S. automaker offers an FX Appearance Package for this new sport truck; highlights include special Tremor graphics on the rig's boxside and 20-in. flat-black wheels. Standard features include a floor shifter, HID headlamps and Sync with MyFord Touch connectivity system. Inside aesthetics show up as black leather seats featuring Alcantara inserts and red piping, brushed-metal accents and a red-stitched steering wheel. "The new Tremor gives F-150 customers yet another option to drive a highly capable, distinctive performance truck with features typically found only in the aftermarket," said Brian Bell, F-150 product marketing manager. "Plus, the Built Ford Tough EcoBoost engine is available for the first time in a short-wheelbase F-150."
Let's face it: The Ford F-150 is a best seller thanks to its combination of fuel economy, payload capacity and towing. In addition to the Tremor's 3.5-liter EcoBoost block, which earns drivers 16 mpg in the city and up to 22 mpg on the highway, Ford also equips this truck with a 302-horsepwer, 3.7-liter V-6 (17 mpg city/23 mpg highway); a 360-horsepower, 5.0-liter V-8 (15 mpg city/21 mpg highway); and a 411-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8 (13 mpg city/18 mpg highway). All engines pair with a 6R80 six-speed automatic. As usual, EPA estimates on 4WD models drop a bit.
Standard safety features on Ford's flagship include AdvanceTrac with roll stability control, the manufacturer's safety canopy system, dual-stage front airbags, auto-lock features for child seats. Also featured are the SecuriLock (a passive anti-theft engine immobilizer system), SOS post-crash alert system, four-wheel ABS, and lap/shoulder seat belts with height adjusters, pretensioners, and energy management retractors on outside front positions.
Available in several trims, the 2014 Ford F-150 comes in XL, STX, XLT, FX2/FX4, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Tremor, Limited and SVT Raptor trims. New for 2014 is a Sunset Metallic hue, which joins last season's Blue Jeans Metallic, Kodiak Brown Metallic and Ruby Red Clearcoat Metallic--just to name a few. Also on tap for the 2014 model year are new 18- and 20-in. wheels offered with various trim packages. Ford’s innovative Sync system with MyFord Touch improves the F-150's driving experience, as it allows drivers to keep both hands on the wheel. You see, this technology's specialized buttons are optimized for truck owners; they can operate the device while wearing gloves, and the large screen improves readability. FX, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited trims are eligible to receive the available cell-phone charging station. This stand-alone option can be installed at the dealer. Truck buyers appreciate that the popular F-150 is assembled right here on American soil, in Dearborn, Michigan and Claycomo, Missouri. *All vehicle mileage based on 2014 EPA mileage estimates.
